Crest Apartments looks more like an art piece. It is not your traditional apartment complex, its unique design lends people to do a double take and spend time gazing at the building to take in the various angles. This 64 unit complex in Van Nuys is the latest project that HACLA is investing in to end homelessness. Crest apartments is part of Skid Row Housing Trust’s portfolio of Permanent Supportive Housing developments. HACLA is contributing over $10 million over 15 years. 35% of the units are for veterans and the rest are dedicated to house individuals living with a disability of experiencing homelessness. This LEED Platinum project boasts many sustainability features: bike storage facilities, low-water demand plants along with high-efficiency irrigation strategies resulting in 73% reduction in irrigation demand, high-albedo materials in sidewalks, patios, driveways, on the roof, as well as heat absorbing plant material.
HACLA is providing 17,000 units to address the City’s homelessness challenges.
