The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) staff joins more than 6,000 volunteers in the 2017 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count on January 24-26, administered by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).
The Homeless Count assists in raising public awareness about homelessness, demonstrating the funding needs and helping communities and funders to strategically target housing and services needed to end homelessness across the country. Data from the count allows the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to target resources to those most in need.
Locally, the data provides information to HACLA to assess housing assistance programs administered by the agency. HACLA has committed permanent supportive housing assistance to more than 16,800 households of formerly homeless and chronically homeless disabled individuals, families, seniors, veterans and transition aged youth through seven different programs.
HACLA staff has participated in the homeless count for the past several years at locations across Los Angeles County. Join the Homeless Count by registering at www.theycountwillyou.org.
