The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles joined partners at the groundbreaking ceremony of Sylmar Court Apartments.
Sylmar Court Apartments will include 101 units consisting of large one, two and three bedroom units. The average rent will range from $442 to $1,256 per month. The development will include 3,500 square feet of community serving commercial space with 25 units specifically allocated for individuals serviced by the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health. Of the 25 Permanent Supportive Housings units, 19 are set aside for chronically homeless applicants and the remaining 6 are for homeless applicants. The Sylmar Court Apartments is strategically located within several feet from mass transit. The development is also within walking distance from schools and other amenities.
“With the homelessness that the City of LA is facing, it’s important to have projects such as Sylmar Courts that is a 100% affordable housing development” said Ryan Mulligan, HACLA’s Assistant Director of Section 8. HACLA’s contribution for this project includes $5.5 million in HAP over 15 years and commitment of 25 units for Project Based Vouchers.
Councilmember Felipe Fuentes of the Seventh Council District attended the groundbreaking ceremony and voiced his support for collaborations between developers and financing partners to build more projects such as Sylmar Court Apartments.
