The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) has been selected by the White House and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to participate in the Summer Opportunity Project. This initiative challenges HACLA to secure employment for at least 100 young people residing in the local public housing developments during this summer.
“The Housing Authority supports the economic development of both our residents and the city of Los Angeles. We are committed to this work and accept this challenge,” stated HACLA CEO and President Douglas Guthrie.
The Summer Opportunity Project will connect young people to employment and supportive services throughout the summer. To assist these efforts, The White House will be connecting Log Angeles’ city leadership with a dedicated Federal Ambassador who will provide resources and technical support to carry out a successful summer jobs program.
